Integrative and Functional Medicine

Functional medicine is defined as a systems biology-based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. Functional medicine is at the core of how we practice, and we are committed to offering the very best functional medicine care to the patients in our practice.

Working Together

Our approach to your care starts with an hour-long consultation in which we listen to you and hold space for you to share your story. Based on what we learn about you, we may order laboratory tests and suggest supplements to enhance your wellness. We will develop a nutrition plan that suits your needs and puts you on the path to healing. Follow-up visits will provide ongoing support as we continue to explore the true cause of what is making you feel unwell.

Our favorite, most powerful tool is holistic nutrition. Many health conditions can be improved or even cured with simple, yet potent dietary changes. Our registered dietitian provides ongoing expertise and support to help you implement and maintain dietary changes.

Common conditions that we can help you heal from:

  • Obesity/overweight
  • Hypertension
  • High cholesterol
  • Fatigue
  • Thyroid conditions including Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
  • Diabetes type 2 and insulin resistance
  • Adrenal burn out
  • Menopause and perimenopause
  • Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy
  • PMS
  • PCOS
  • Fibroids, endometriosis
  • IBS
  • Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)
  • Leaky gut
  • Gluten intolerance and other food allergies
  • Headaches
  • Acne
  • Eczema/psoriasis

Are you tired of super short appointments with a provider whose hand is on the doorknob?
Do you want to feel like you are a part of a healthcare team?
Do you want to feel supported and heard?

Let us bridge the gap between the healthcare you are receiving, and the HEALTH you’d like to achieve.

YOU should be in the driver's seat of your care!

From Our Clients

"I will never feel the same way about having to go to the doctor's again. As somebody who's always had fear and felt uncomfortable in any medical situation, I am now forever changed. Sarah Fontaine is amazing and kind and even remembers past conversations from previous appointments. She is caring and makes you feel incredibly comfortable. I recommend everyone to this practice. Whatever health concerns you have, they approach it the way it should be approached, with understanding and kindness. I cannot say enough wonderful things."

“I began working with Amanda a year and a half ago. When I first met her, my body was a complete mess. I was recently diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and in the middle of a flare, which was not fun and my body felt the same! I didn’t know what to do, what to eat, what not to eat, what medicine is good, what isn’t. I was totally lost! I feared I was literally going to wither away to nothing. That is until I met Amanda. She made me feel comfortable talking about anything. Her wealth of knowledge was of amazement to me! She totally knew where to begin to get my belly back on track. That began almost a 2 year journey with her and also led to a friendship as well. I don’t know where I would be without her! Amanda is one of the most genuine, passionate, thoughtful, smart, giving and kind human beings I have ever met. She truly wants to help people feel as good as they can and cares so deeply about others. I thank her for getting me to where I am today - maintaining a happy belly! Amanda changes lives for the better! She is AMAZING!! I thank you Amanda and so does my body : )”

“I was having a hard time losing baby weight and was tired of feeling unfit and unhealthy. Despite running routinely, staying active, and being generally health conscious, I knew I needed to make life-long dietary changes but didn’t know where to start. I falsely still believed that I could eat whatever I wanted and get back my previous self. In her characteristic non-judgmental and supportive way, Amanda helped me focus and identify things I could change, one at a time. She gave me concrete, uncomplicated advice that I could act on immediately. Over the course of 12 weeks, I was able to make incremental dietary changes. These changes were not temporary, they have become my new normal. I can’t imagine going back. I’ve known Amanda since nursing school. She is one of those people that radiates positivity. This is such a perfect profession for her, as she is able to combine her knowledge of health and wellness with her genuine kindness – all to motivate people to become a better more empowered version of themselves.”

“I want to sincerely thank you for all that you have done for me and for my family. It was such a wonderful experience working with you. I never thought that in such a short time I would be where I am today. You taught me a whole new approach to food that is realistic and therefore not challenging to stick to. Little changes like having bun-less burgers or zucchini noodles instead of pasta is now my new norm and I enjoy it! (I’m still trying to convince the kids on the zucchini noodles though!) Your strategies for eating out, holiday parties, and more have been extremely useful. I need a whole new closet of clothes, and I can easily say I have never had as much confidence as I do right now. THANK YOU!!!”

InBody Body Composition Analysis

The InBody body composition analyzer is a state of the art tool used in research and clinical settings to evaluate body fat, muscle mass, body water, basal metabolic rate, visceral fat, and other important health markers. Knowing this information can help you track your progress as you make lifestyle changes. Traditional scales offer one piece of data – your overall weight – and body mass index calculations are misleading. The InBody tells you what your body is actually made of so you can make meaningful changes and see results! Results are available immediately on an easy-to-understand results sheet. Click here to see an example.

Having an InBody scan done is a helpful piece of your first visit and we encourage all patients to invest in a baseline assessment. The process is simple: after wiping your hands and feet with a tissue to to increase conductivity, you stand on a platform with bare feet and hold on to two handles. Results are available in 45 seconds so that we can use them immediately as part of your care plan.

Preparing for your InBody test:

  • Hydrate well the day before your test
  • Avoid eating for 3 hours prior to your test
  • Avoid exercise for 6 hours prior to your test
  • Remove all jewelry, socks, stockings, and shoes
  • Use the bathroom before your test
